Sofia’s {Ideas} Color Code

Sofia’s {Ideas}

A Sunday series.  A single idea.  One of way too many.

We have a relatively large family, so organization is a must!  One of the easiest things I’ve done that has made one of the biggest difference is Color Code.  Several years ago, we all chose our favorite color, and just about everything we can color code in our home, we do.
We color code toothbrushes and towels.
We color code backpacks, lunchboxes
and water bottles.

We even color code our glass straws.

We also color code control journals and their (dry-erase) markers (more on that later, I’m sure), and homeschool unit study notebooks.  And sheets, pillowcases, and quilts.  And underwear, socks, and pajamas.  You get the picture, right?

I can not tell you enough how much simpler this has made life in our home.  I honestly can not remember how we got along before this.  Color coding is so ingrained in how we run this household that its to the point where Goodle and Bear both grew up thinking that the colors were named by the family members who “owned” them.  So when you asked them “What color is this?”, instead of “blue” they’d say “mama”; instead of “red” they’d say “Arcane”.  LOL!

Color coding every thing, believe it or not, saves time, money, and what little sanity I have left!  ;)   Its just another tip that fits into Sofia’s Ideas on Simplicity, Frugality, and Frivolity… all with an Eco-Mentality!

I love the idea of the color code. We do it for clothing {I now have three in the same size}, but I never thought to carry it on to other areas in our day. Thanks-I will be using this TODAY!

Love this idea! I will keep this in mind as our family grows (we only have one son so far). Not only does this make so much sense, but it is so bright and cheerful. :)

Wow, I love, love, love this idea – I’ve got four, ages ranging from 3 to 14, so it wouldn’t work with all things, but certainly towels! I can’t tell you how many towels I pick up off the floor each week, and wonder who put it there! Thanks for the great idea!

Ha! That’s funny cuz that was one of the first things I noticed! No more passing the buck on that one cuz we know exactly who the culprit is, with everything!!! LOL! :)
