Sushi 101 for Kids

June 16, 2010

This evening, the kids participated in the “Sushi 101 for Kids” at our local Whole Foods Market.  They had so much fun and said that “it wasn’t just fun it was very educational too!”.  (Of course, this tied right into our unit study that all began with “The Cove“.)  They were even happier that they were able to share the experience with one of their cousins, and one of their friends too!  They were given chef’s hats, chopsticks, and a fantastic Sushi 101 book, all provided by Whole Foods Market’s in-house sushi company, Genji.  Not to mention the container of sushi they prepared themselves!

I highly recommend that you register for one of these classes.  According to Genji

Available for both children and adults, our classes offer hands-on instruction in an exciting and fun one hour group event. Class participants will learn of the honored traditions of sushi, its history, and its place in Japanese cuisine, as well as the variety of rolls, ingredients, and techniques that are responsible for creating the delicious items you see daily on the shelves of our Genji Express sushi bars.

Participating in these FREE classes are in complete alignment with Sofia’s Ideas on Simplicity, Frugality, and Frivolity, all with an Eco-Mentality! I already told why I think you should register with Whole Foods Markets here.  So if you haven’t already, I hope you will now!  And don’t forget to find me, SofiasIdeas, so we can be friends on there too!

M had so much fun. That was such a great class for the kids and he was so proud of himself. He kept saying that his tray of sushi looked better than what I buy at the store!
